FENACHE
Federação Nacional de Cooperativas de Habitação Económica, FCRL

The Federation Nacional de Cooperativas de Habitação Económica, F.C.R.L. - FENACHE {National Federation of Economic Housing Cooperatives} - was created in December 1980, as a result of the 2nd Congress of the Housing Cooperative Movement.

Since it is the only structure representing Housing Cooperative at national level, FENACHE currently brings together around 150 Cooperatives with activities in Portugal. The Cooperatives affiliated to FENACHE deal with around 50,000 families and have already promoted the construction of over 30,000 cost-controlled dwellings.

The statutory responsibilities of FENACHE are to represent and defend the interests of the affiliated cooperatives, and to foster, organise and disseminate housing cooperativism and cooperation among cooperatives.

FENACHE has participated in achievements and structures within the International Cooperative Movement, and incorporates the Aliança Cooperativa Internacional (A.C.I.) {International Cooperative Alliance} and the Comité Europeu de Coordenação da Habitação Social (CECODHAS) {European Committee for the Coordination of Social Housing}, of which it was a founder.

FENACHE is also affiliated to the Confederation das Cooperativas Portuguesas (CONFECOOP) {Confederation of Portuguese Cooperatives}, an umbrella organisation of the Portuguese Cooperative Movement, which it helped to create in conjunction with other National Federations from other branches of the cooperative sector.

Since it is a structure to represent its affiliates, FENACHE is an organisation which is open to serving all Housing Cooperatives, by lending its experience to all who desire and request it, and actively collaborating to resolve the Portuguese people's housing problem.
